Sunny Day Farms - Donate

Now that a lot of us have seen how nice and peaceful Sunny Day Farms Animal Sanctuary is, please feel free to make a donation to the farm. Brooke and the rest of the crew are always in need of help to get the farm up and running by its June opening. Also, she is constantly in need of funds to keep the place going.

Go to the link below and click Donate!

Veg fact of the day

To add to the fact of the day post: the 10 billion farm animals that die every year only account for the United States, and not the rest of the world. Imagine just how many are killed all over the WORLD!

Christian Vegetarian Association - Promoting a healthy diet, compassion and love

Garrett, one of our co-founders, submitted this link. It’s an interesting alternative to what we published yesterday.

Many people often say that their religious beliefs compel or allow them to eat meat or that God gave animals to humans to use any way we please.  The Christian Vegetarian Association sees it another way.  They believe that God originally made all humans and animals vegetarian and that we have a responsibility to take care of and protect all of God’s creation - including animals.  Check out their site and share it with your friends who are Christian or who are interested in this topic.

Genesis 1:29
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.”

Romans 14:21
It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause any person to stumble

Matthew 25:41-45

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me.”

HUMANEWATCH.ORG

Have you seen this website? It is an anti-HSUS blog funded in part by the meat industry. This way, they can keep a clear watch on how The Humane Society of the United States is spending their budget and our donations. Pretty dumb.

Lawyers for animals? The Swiss are considering it and we should too.

Swiss voters will go to the polls March 7 to decide whether each of the country’s 26 cantons (similar to states) should be obligated to appoint a special attorney to represent pets and farm animals in court in cases of alleged abuse.  Texas needs the same initiative.

Animal Law

Farmers there are opposed to the initiative, but why?

Read all about it at Time Magazine online.

The Truth About Soy

http://www.thefactsaboutsoy.com/soy_and_men.html

There are some researchers out there saying soy is harmful, but others think it’s great. To be honest, I don’t know what to think. How do you guys feel about eating soy?

Not Grass-Fed, but at Least Pain-Free

The New York Times recently published an article by this title discussing the possibility of genetically engineering animals to not feel pain. Here is the link to it for anyone interested.

How to Save a Chicken

We came home from work and found 9 chickens out in our neighbor’s yard. This is what we did.
